Istanbul Venture Capital Initative (iVCi)
CONTEXT

The aims are:

A.    That Istanbul becomes a crossroad location for the venture capital industry in South East Europe and Central Asia by the year 2020.

B.    To provide access to finance to Turkish companies by being a catalyst for the development of the venture capital industry in Turkey through investments in independently-managed funds and co-investments.

C.    To support research, technology development, entrepreneurship, environmental transformation and innovation and to strengthen its ties with public and private research organizations (TTGV).

SUPPORT MECHANISM

iVCi is a fund of funds that invests into funds managed by independent fund managers.  The aim of iVCi is to build the venture capital industry in Istanbul.

Istanbul Venture Capital Initiative (iVCi) is Turkey's first ever dedicated fund of funds and co-investment programme. 

RESULTS

As of 2015: Since its launch in 2007, iVCi has successfully committed to ten portfolio funds, leveraging over €1.5 billion of third-party capital.

IMPLEMENTING AGENCIES

Istanbul Venture Capital Initiative (iVCi) is a €144 million fund-of-funds and coinvestment programme funded by the Turkish governmental agencies and the European Investment Fund, along with private institutional investors.
