This was a first for GEN Namibia. Global Entrepreneurship Network Namibia invited Namibians to enter the Entrepreneurship World Cup competition since February 2019. Mostly females entered the competition but what was striking the five finalists were all female. Is that not powerful message for the future of our country?

The competition was run online and the first round ended up with the following finalists; Paulina Alfeus of Power Six furniture producing company from disbanded oil drums; Saimi Shigweda of the Kasi Vibe Festival that takes place every three months to promote small businesses; Marita Walther from SunCycles Namibia producing electric driven bicycles powered up while cycling; Mariane Akwenye from Nomadspa bringing comfort of a spa to your home; and Helena Amadhila of Tommy’s Lodge in Karibib. All these ladies are at the early stage of their enterprises.

GEN Namibia congratulates the winner Marita Walther with her solution to Africa’s transport challenges. The bicycle is available to health workers in Namibia, South Africa and she plans to spread the product to the rest of Africa. Innovative ideas to solve problems using less fossil fuels or in the Sun Cycle concept not any but is powered also by solar power.

Walther says: Making mobility easier for all in Namibia and Africa. She will be receiving business coaching from Accelerate a GEN program as a finalist in the global competition sponsored by GEN Global and MIST in Saudi Arabia in November this year. Good luck Marita.
