The energy industry is part mathematics and science and part divination. You need to be able to balance intellectual considerations with intuitive thinking. There is a gap between what the law provides and what the world needs from the industry, it challenges us to incorporate the problems of tomorrow, in today's policies. Energy policies need to catch up so we don't find ourselves in ironic positions like driving a ‘Coal Powered Electric Car’.

There are always someone looking for smarter ways in the energy sector to provide solutions to actual current day challenges.

Black Gold Engineering, a startup in Namibia has done that and came up with a product called NAMLUX light bulb, which will save more than 60% of actual energy consumption on street lights for local authorities.

The light spread by this bulb extends to a radius of 40 m2 rather than the normal 26 m2 for the ordinary street light bulb. This masterpiece is currently protected by the copy right laws governing Namibia. GEN Namibia is supporting the Black Gold Engineering to get the product off the ground for mass production and mass energy savings.
